Welcome to the Desslok podcast with Vanessa and Chris. I'm Vanessa Ferguson. I'm Chris Jones. We'd like to welcome you to show number 41 for any listeners joining us for the first time. Our show features things that we love at Disney, as well as having guessed on each episode who create Disney magic for our listeners at home or on their Disney vacations. From vacation planners to product producers, our guests can bring Disney magic into your life. And as a reminder to our listeners, we appreciate you taking time to leave reviews for us on ample podcasts or Google play or really any platform where you listen to us. That helps other listeners pretend potential listeners find us, and it also helps us to be able to and just reach a broader audience. And for any listers who give us those five star reviews, we make sure to take time to give you a shout out on a future episode of The Diz Love Podcast and, of course, any of those customer ratings. We greatly appreciate those as well, and for today's show, we're going to be joined by Tiffany from Grady's mommy and burglary, she her business features dizzy cruise line, fish extenders, umbrella spotters and pin holders. She also doesn't really cool stroller spotters, And if anybody have seen the sea of strollers at Dizzy Part, you'll appreciate those. She has some really cool pen holders to display pins at your home, and she has all kinds of custom patches that you can use on your own products, that you might create creations that you might have at home. And I should add that we did interview Tiffany before there was the break in the Disney Cruise Line sailing. So we're hoping and that you will be planning those future trips and be able to look at some of her awesome products that she has. We ourselves used one of her fish extenders when we went on a merry time crews in December, so she has some really cool things. And then, of course, or stroller put spotters and pin holders that you can use any time a cz well, So before we get to our interview with Tiffany, we're going to talk about thinking about water things. So I thought it might be nice to talk about motorized boat runnels and fishing excursions on property that my nets on that exciting. But these are some really fun, unique things that you can do that a relaxing at outside the parks and we have also done in past episodes. We've talked about some of the escorted excursions, like the fireworks cruises and the pirate cruises thes air different than those. So I will put a link to those past shows where we've talked about the other types of boats that you can go on. But today we're gonna talk about rentals where you're kind of in charge. So these are kind of relaxing excursions. These are things that can be done in by a lake also over on by. So these are things that you would do from either over by the Magic Kingdom or also, when you're over by up, cut back by the international gateway. When you go to the area near Boardwalk in Yon Beach Club, there's some of those options over there as well. By Porter leans, they're some of the beach or some of the fishing excursion, so we're gonna talk about all the different kind of boats. And
spk_1: 3:09
Chris, have you ever really noticed any of the
spk_0: 3:11
boats that are out. Yeah. I mean that you haven't the fairies, and then you have the little boats that you can drive her own. Yes. So these are all the we're gonna talk about the pontoons and the little boats that you could D'oh! Now, this first type of boat. So these see crafts that we're gonna look at first are ones that you can get at bay like tower. So really, any of the contemporary resort location. So contemporaries, or the south at bay like tower. And also get these over at Beach Club and the at Fort Wilderness. The camp sites and the camp cabins and then Grand Floridian Resort and also Polynesian. So the 1st 1 I think you would really enjoy this. I probably would not enjoy riding one with you, but the sea racers. You can't these hold up to two guests and it's only $32 for 1/2 hour. These air those like many speedboats and I think it actually might be fun to d'oh! You can have. The driver only has to be 12 years of age in at least five feet tall. So this is fun for young kids to enjoy. You do have to have a parent or guardian in the boat with somebody that's under the age of 18. But I think this would be a fun thing to do. And at only $32 for half hour, I would think probably I don't know. For me, I would think after an hour I would be done. Yeah. I mean, it is I don't go to Disney World and go, Oh, I want to ride one of these little boats, right? Yes. So, Thea, other type that they have is a Boston Whaler D. C up to six people. So these air a little bit more. What they say is that they're a little bit more room because you can have 26 people. You do have to be at least 18 years of age, so the kiddos can't. I can't run one of these, but these are a little bit step up because they are larger. They still go a little bit faster than like a traditional pontoon boat. But I've seen these tooling around by the Magic Kingdom during the day, and it looks like it would be a fun thing. These air, little more $45 1/2 hour. But if you had six adults and you were splitting that price, that's pretty cheap. Say you even did it for a couple of hours. One of the things that I've seen a lot of people talk about is something that's fun to do is pick up lunch and take it out on one of these boats, even like the pontoon boats that will be talking about here in a second. There are restrictions, though, so if you have depending on your crowd, there's weight restrictions. And then I already mentioned some of the age restrictions as well. Ah, couple of things to Disney is going to require all passengers on the boats to have life fast. They do have those that they provide, so that some things to keep in mind to and then the last type of boat they have our pontoon boats. So we have been on the pontoon boats at night for the fireworks cruises, and I thought they were decent size. You can hold up to 10 people, and we've had the maximum in a boat before. What did you think about when we went out on the pontoons? before. Yeah, it was very nice. It was cold the one time that we had recently went on one a few years ago for my aunt's birthday. But they are nice boats, and it's kind of neat, too, because you can drive him yourself. So if you have a group traveling, we've sometimes traveled with friends or with family merge with. This would be fun when we've gone with some of the other Disney couples. This might be fun on an afternoon. Yeah, we could rent one of these and you can have again up to 10 people rent it for a couple of hours, go out, take lunch or maybe just snacks and just have kind of a fun time when they have. So, as I mentioned, they're gonna make you give life s Onley. Children are required 12 and under to wear them at all times. But adults are a record that loose. Have them. They said, on average, if you're in Bay Leak or a seven seas lagoon, which is the lake that's adjacent to the area with the campground. So if you're on the back side where the beach is for the campground near the trail's end and Pioneer Hall in all of that, that is the Seven Seas Lagoon that's going to take you. I'm sorry. That's Bay like that's going to take you about an hour. If you want a tool around that, hope that whole area. Now, I have been on one of the Boston Whalers, not us renting it. My cousin and I. Years ago, we did one of the para sailing excursions, which will talk about maybe some of those other types of things that you can dio. We did pair of sailing on the lake, and that was about an hour to. And so I have written in one of these boats. I just haven't driven one. We've been on all guided excursions, so we've done the fireworks cruises, and I've also done the parasailing but very nice watercraft if you aren't from now, like we're from Michigan and I would think that to me, going on a boat side of Big Deal. No, no, because we live to buy so many legs. But I know a lot of our listeners air from areas where you might not have access to go on the lake. It's just something totally different or if you're just looking for some downtime, I think it would be fun. And I definitely think this would be, ah, fun thing for us to do when we go down again with a group of friends. If you are at the Yacht Club, they say, on average, if you wanted to like Yacht and Beach Club and you, if you had a boat and you wanted to take it down to Hollywood studios and back, that's also about an hour. So if you figure these air $45 per half hour, that's around $90. Not too bad. If you wanted to just take an hour to do something, and when you look at the number of people that can be on it, it's a fairly good value for what you can get. I know here I I don't even know where I would run a boat lower, so we have friends and family that have boats, but it's kind of nice that if you don't have that opportunity that you can go and do it and enjoy it when you're at Disney. So those air some options with just the regular motorized craft motorized. But Reynolds and other watercraft. I think the Sea Racer might be fun to Chris, and I might each need our own for that, cause I might be a little scared. He likes to go fast on things now. The second type of boating sort of excursion that you can dio is there are guided fishing tours, so there's a couple of different ones. There's ones that go out on a pontoon boat, and then there's also ones that go on. Ah, nitro bass fishing boat. I'm not very familiar with fishing, but that one only holds two people versus a pontoon boat, which holds a number of people. So the fishing excursions leave from very similar locations. Fort Wilderness, Caribbean Well, Caribbean Beach is something different that they don't have. The other one's contemporary Grand Floridian. Old Key West Polynesian Porter leans Resort Riverside, which we say there are a lot and I've seen people leaving on these excursions Ah Wilderness Lodge and Yacht Club. So how these excursions work as these are catch and release for bass fishing. Now I've used to fish as a child, and I always enjoyed I know. Have you ever even really been fishing? No, I will never. So this isn't up Chris's alley. But for any of you who do enjoy fishing or maybe your kiddos, my enjoy, they have to in four hour excursions. So for these, what happens is that they also allow you if you want to go these air in the these air Earlier in the day, I read on the Disney website that they if you do an afternoon excursion, you can do it at a reduced rate. So the guided fishing excursions on the pontoon boat is for up to five guests. Even though the pontoons hold up to 10 for the fishing, they only allow five. And then on the Smalley smaller nitro boats, those air for one or two people to experience that. And so with these, these are guided just like when you had the fireworks cruise or the parasailing like I talked about earlier, you would have a guide, and they provide everything with you so you don't need to pack up your rod and reel and your tackle box. They're gonna provide everything for you. So if you're somebody who enjoys fishing or maybe doesn't get to do it very frequently, they provide everything for you. They have a mix of they have artificial and our life bait. It says that on the one boat on the nitro, both they do not have live bait, maybe for spacing. They provide non alcoholic beverages, and it's kind of just all inclusive if you want to just have a nice time relaxing and going out and fishing. Disney vacations could be very fast paced. We just went on one. You're going 90 miles an hour and we go from morning till night. So this would be if you had a day where you were just kicking back at the resort. You might want to go on one of his fishing excursions. I said, I've always find fishing very relaxing. So these air some that are on the boats now at AARP. Well, I think my personal favorite resort porter leans Riverside. And I think that's one of your favorites, too. Yeah, this one, it has dockside fishing, so this will be a little less money and they do it right off the dock. I've seen people there dozens of times doing this and so similar to the would be guided ones on the boats. They're gonna provide all your fishing gear. You just run it right there at the old Man Island. Right? Which is by the big pool. It's called the fishing hole at Old Man Island. You can go and get all of the gear that you need. And during this that they're going thio, you're you're able to do catch and release. Now, all of the fishing excursions at Walt Disney World are catch and release. You are able to keep any of the fish that basket you catch. But I've seen pictures. People have gotten some decent sized bass, so it would be a fun time too. If you don't want to go out on the boat, you at least just wanted to do the dockside. There is that option and that's on Lee at Porter Orleans, Riverside. You can't do that. Any other other other location. So all in all, I think this is something that I would get most people did. You know about all of these different options? I sure didn't know. So if you out of the I know you would say no to fishing, but out of doing like the Sea Racer, the pontoon, or that whaler boat. Which one would do you think you would enjoy? The hunt? The Ponto? I think it would just be fun with a group of people just to hang out and have a nice afternoon on a nice day. I would not do it in the summer in the middle of the heat. I would do it like on a nice spring, day or fall day. Be able to enjoy it with some friends. So those air, all of the different options for water, crafts and fishing excursions that you can do and hopefully gives you some new ideas of some different things that you might not have ever thought of at the Disney parks. So we're gonna move on to our interview with Tiffany. And again, I'm excited for you to hear about all of her products. As I mentioned, we recorded this prior to the stoppage, the of the Disney sailing's. For the time being, we're hoping that you hear and see all of the great products she has and be able to start using them for you're making plans for your future trips. I know we have a sailing that we're gonna be doing in 2021 to Alaska, and I already said to Tiffany that I'm ready and I got to start figure out what I want for our fish extender So we're excited to bring this interview to you.
spk_1: 14:27
We're so excited to have Tiffany on today's show. Her Etsy shop is Grady's mommy, and she has all kinds of unique in Verdery items from people who are looking for something on their next Disney cruise, from fish extenders and umbrella spotters and pin holders to anyone going on their next Disneyland or Disney World vacation with stroller spotters and other pin things, we actually got something from her. Fur are less Disney Cruise. So we're super excited to have Tiffany on the show with us today.
spk_2: 14:56
Thank you. I'm excited to be here.
spk_1: 14:58
So we always like to start out our interviews with an ice breaker question about something related to Disney travel. And this week we'd like to ask, What is your favorite quick service restaurant at any Disney park?
spk_2: 15:12
Well, there's a bunch of good ones from my absolute favorite is a hey Coz Bill, Tall Tale in and Magic Kingdom. I love the fresh Mexican flair.
spk_1: 15:22
Yes, yes and the fixings bar is supposed to be great, too.
spk_2: 15:27
It really is. That really isn't very fresh and guacamole, which is always wonderful to get on.
spk_1: 15:34
It's not extra port, right? Exactly. Exactly. And I was impressed. You knew the whole name, too.
spk_2: 15:42
I cheated. I looked it up.
spk_1: 15:44
That's OK. We have to do that a lot, too. So I mentioned a little bit about our business. But could you tell us a little bit more in what are some of the products that you offer connected to Disney?
spk_2: 15:56
Well, I started out offering custom made fish extenders, which is the the items cruisers Disney Cruise Line cruisers used. Thio put Gibson when they do a gift exchange, they meet each other online. And so, um, they make I make the custom fish extenders that family's order so they have names and characters making many heads. My offers that have characters in a gold version with like the The design from the front of the ship is kind of what it cool or the pillows that used to be on the beds on the Magic, original magic and the dream, I believe, um, um, Masha, I'm
spk_1: 16:43
certain of it. alarm. You also have, like, some things for when you're at Disney World or Disney Land as well.
spk_2: 16:49
Yes. Um, I have stroller spotters, which is kind of an idea from a customer who came up with it and asked me if I had some way of identifying her stroller in that sea of strong
spk_1: 17:00
one good
spk_2: 17:02
there. And one other item. My half of the cruise is the umbrella spotters. And this was another customer, and I came up with it because we both kind of talked about how when you cast away key when you walk down to the water and turn around, you think you can identify your loving an orange or a blue one. But you realize when you turn around and look at the umbrellas, they're all the same. Yes, yes. Ellis Potter goes on the pole so you can tell which one is chauffeur.
spk_1: 17:32
Oh, well, that's a great idea.
spk_2: 17:34
Yeah. The stroller spotter for Disney World and Disneyland is kind of the same concept. Helps you identify your stroller and they and all of them.
spk_1: 17:42
Now you also have I know you. It shows that you have some pin holders. Could you tell us a little bit about those as well.
spk_2: 17:50
Well, this was kind of my own idea. I had extra fabric from the fish extenders on. It was just kind of sitting around and I thought, What? I need to do something with this and my daughter and I were getting ready to go on a trip to Disneyland. I pull on my pins out of the drawer to see which ones we would want to trade. And I thought, you know, he's been in a drawer for years. I would love to look at, Hm.
spk_1: 18:12
Yes. Yo,
spk_2: 18:13
I just put this pen holder together and we display our own pins. And I love telling them because I love pin trading. Yeah, we actually did on the ship and, um, at Disney World, and we even did some of Disneyland when we got to go there a couple of years ago. And it's just a really fun way to actually get to see your pins instead of having a drawer.
spk_1: 18:36
Yes, and I That's so nice, too, because I've had a few things where you put him like a corkboard. But then I always lose the back, so I like how with this, you can have it. And then you make sure that the whole pin is there. You don't risk losing. Parts of it are different. Things like that,
spk_2: 18:54
right? That way, if you ever decide you want to trade that, then take it back to Disney and trade it. You you've got the back. You don't try and come up with another one,
spk_1: 19:01
right? Right. And
spk_0: 19:03
so with it, what led you to start the business?
spk_2: 19:08
Well, you know, it was an accident, actually, um, back in. I think it was 2008. Well, um, we booked our first Disney cruise. Like like two kids of my husband. The kids were I think I've been seven. Who and, um, wait, um, you know, I was on the dis boards and, you know, kind of looking around at different things and learning, you know? You know the research. You
spk_1: 19:35
do it for you. Yes, on a Disney
spk_2: 19:36
cruise. Your patient and I discovered this. Some begin to exchange the fish extender, exchanged that kind of a new thing. And so, you know, I but all my materials together and went to my embroidery designs and so on and support that I designed my own fish extender and I posted it on my group. Um, and I just had people coming out of the woodwork asking me to make some went. So it's been more than 10 years, about 12. I've just been making Norman. I absolutely love it. Um, it's right up my alley. I love Disney. I live in broader going, So it's the perfect job. And then it's just kind of grown from there with the other, um, other items I have in my shop.
spk_1: 20:21
That's awesome. So could you tell us, then a little bit? How you think your products can add some Disney magic to our listeners lives?
spk_2: 20:29
Well, everything is custom made. So thes person gets to pick the Mickey or Minnie Head that they like or character. They like the goldfish extender. Um, so you know it Ever Everything has a name on it? Um, the family name. I have a variety of top designs. The A cruise ship design or a dizzy logo design. Um, so it's It's very personal. Yeah, first family and very special, because it's something that you get to take home after your cruise and keep have lots of families that tell me that they put them on their in their family room or in their kitchen and how they use, um, and it just reminds me of their reminds them of their special vacation. And you just give him the magic all the time on I love that,
spk_1: 21:18
and we actually the one that we got from you. We went on a merry time cruise, so it had a Christmas scene and one of the things that I loved. First off, I kept my name when we got married, and there was enough space to have both of our last names at it, which was a big deal, because sometimes we can't put both of our names on it. And then we were able to get all the Christmas touches. And then when we brought it home, much like you mentioned with some of your other customers, I used it to hold Christmas cards. We've got Christmas cards because it had all the Christmas theme with that because of the merry time cruise. So it was really great, and I'm excited that we'll be able to use that for years to come and always remind us of that cruise that we took during the Christmas season.
spk_2: 21:59
Oh yeah, that's awesome. And along with the crystals, when I do a Halloween one that's very popular with different making many Halloween themed heads, one sounds fun.
spk_1: 22:10
So what is kind of your turnaround time? Let's say I was going on Ah, Halloween cruise or Christmas cruise, or just any cruise in general. What's the turnaround time for some of your products? Because they are so custom?
spk_2: 22:23
Well, because of the long line I have, I I always have wide if you customers in my queue, which I like to call it. I asked for about five weeks. Um, minimum processing time, sure, for Stanford production. And so, you know, usually try to get everybody's items delivered within 6 to 7 weeks somewhere in there. And if customers need it earlier than that, I have a rush of great option can so that they can have. I've got several orders that, um, you know, a customer booked the cruise at the last minute. Maybe they only four weeks, and I can definitely get their item made and to them with the rush upgrade
spk_1: 23:10
perfect. And then would that be true? for the stroller spotters and umbrella spotters and pin holders about this in turnaround time for everything?
spk_2: 23:18
No, actually, the umbrella spotters and pen holders, I can get done quite a bit faster. Okay. Um, officially, three weeks. Okay. Uh, maybe less. Depending on how much volume I have, you know there is no, Obviously, the pen holders are the hottest and takes just a little bit longer, but not much. Not much at all.
spk_1: 23:41
Okay, Great. In a rather any Do you take custom orders? Besides, I mean, I know their custom of the names on that, but if someone wanted to have a particular character or something, do you do custom orders in that regard?
spk_2: 23:55
Well, I try now on my standard vicious tenders. I just do Mickey and Minnie heads and I have about 40 or more options. Yes, that's someone will ask me one time because my asset that could do a border guard hat for their Mickey head. That was their husbands job. Although I and designed the border at and used it for, you know, Park Ranger and some other things. I try to do custom stuff like that. I've come up with a few more. I haven't got on my chop yet for Alaskan cruises. Like rain hats, huh? Yeah, some of the other things that I've got to get those listed. But for characters on the gold embroidered bish extenders I will take custom is as long as I can find a good silhouette of the character so it doesn't look old. Blob. Yeah, border it out. It's gotta have some good detail with without Tom, There's a couple of characters that don't work out.
spk_1: 24:53
I'm sure I can imagine. I have to keep an eye out Word planning Disney cruise for next year and off to keep an eye out in your shop to see what those products that you add for the Alaskan cruises.
spk_2: 25:07
Oh, yeah, that they should. I have most of them done. Um, just my computer crash. And so I look by the program that I used to So I am making pictures. Yo, um, you know what any good parent does that get there? Some thio? Uh, further. You know, they're not younger. Ah, child, my season is his 19. Almost 20. Sure, he's much my, um uh, the technical support. Right? Get my program back. up and running. We'll
spk_1: 25:44
hopefully that's very soon.
spk_2: 25:47
Yes. Is he You have to wait for him to get a break from college season. Tough engineering classes.
spk_0: 25:56
Perfect. Well, thank you. And so please tell our listeners, where can they find you online?
spk_2: 26:01
I am on Etsy dot com. My shop name is Grady's Mommy. Um, you can do a search for fish extenders and mind should come right up Its offer. Several different styles of fish extenders was a pirate one with the pirate ship and, um, a regular one with the logo on the ship and then the gold version and they all top up. I believe you can type in Grady's mommy, and it should take you to my shop. And I believe the direct link is Grady's mommy, etc. Flash Grady's mommy dot com. But don't hold me to that,
spk_1: 26:39
and I'll make sure I'll put a link right to your Etsy shop in the show notes. So that way that they can get directly to your shop in like you mentioned. I found you just doing some searches on Etsy, too, because you are one of the top ones for the fish extenders. When I started looking for something for our crews, but I'll definitely make sure we'll put the links in our show notes right to your shop. And then, of course, we'll share all the great photos of your products as that we put this episode out
spk_2: 27:10
wonderful. Well, one other thing we haven't mentioned is my, um, name patch is not something that I believe just a short time because I know there are some that, like to make their own fish extenders, but they might want embroidered on them. So I have iron on patches and those have been very, very popular. And so step Bingham on blankets, on bags, just on all kinds of stuff. So that's another item that that's in my shop, that anyone that goes there, we'll see. And that that's gonna really find item, because who doesn't love their name
spk_1: 27:43
right for sure. And then are those about that? Are those a little quicker turnaround time to, like some of the smaller items?
spk_2: 27:51
Yeah, those I usually can try to get done in about two weeks out in two weeks or less, depending on when the order comes in. If I had just finished a big batch. They may have to wait until I get the next batch going in about a week and 1/2 or so, but sometimes. So sometimes two weeks, sometimes less
spk_1: 28:08
awesome. Awesome. Well, we will make sure we'll share pictures of all your different items with all of our followers. And we really appreciate you taking time to join us on the this episode.
spk_2: 28:20
I've really enjoyed it. I'm so glad you called.
spk_0: 28:23
And thank you again to Tiffany for joining us. We're so grateful to have been able to hear about her products and are excited to share those with all of you. And now we're on to our final segments of the show, which is our quick two minute trivia and our wisdom from Walt Quote. So, Chris, you are up. So, Vanessa, you talked a lot about all the different marine options at Disney World. Correct. And so with that, you know, with it all those options comes a lot of boats. Okay? Yes, that's true. So I want it all do it. A true or false Okay, that if you were going to be easy, if you were to add up all the boats operated by Disney, their fleet would be the world's fourth largest navy. True or false? Does this account like that at all the parks? This is according to Disney fanatic dot com. I did not count the boats, but I wouldn't take up friends. I'm gonna say, True, that is false. It would be the world's fifth largest fat. That's close. That says, when added to the other boats operated by Disney, their fleet comes to an impressive total of 750 give or take Wow, reportedly making it the world's fifth largest navy. That's crazy, isn't it? Yes, Wow, very interesting. And learn something new every time. So again, always fun to learn some of those different fax about the Disney parks. And of course, we always like to end with our wisdom from wall quote. So I pulled something that was nature, not water related but nature. And this says I don't like formal gardens. I like wild nature. It's just the wilderness instinct in me, I guess, and you can see that come out in a lot of waltz ideas.
