Speaker 1:

Welcome to the dislodged podcast with Vanessa and Chris. I'm Vanessa Ferguson and I'm Chris Johns. We would like to welcome you to show number 27. Wow. That is a lot of shows. Yes. So if you've been keeping track, that means we are now officially at the one year mark and we have some exciting things that will be coming in the next couple of weeks. And I don't know, Chris, if you want to give any preview or,

Speaker 2:

well, I'm a big trivia buff, you know, for most of the shows I do the trivia in. So to celebrate our one year anniversary, we're going to be putting together a series of Disney theme Trivia's where we're going to have invite people to play. Um, it's online to use your phone. It's a lot of fun. But then for the people who participate in more for the people who win, we're going to be given out prizes from guests. Yeah. From past guests that have awesome products that really share that Disney theme. So the real theme is, you know, brush up on your Disney and play the trivia wins from things you just have fun. And again, you know, the real purpose is to celebrate our one year anniversary because I have to say we've made it a long time a year as I think a real milestone for a podcast because yeah, I'm an avid podcast listener and you can tell you about how many shows that go maybe a month, maybe two months, six months, but to make it a whole year and we're just going to keep on going. So you know, Vanessa, this is exciting.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we're exciting and it kind of helps us celebrate a little bit with all of you. And we're super excited to be able to be working with some of our past guests this as well. So stay tuned. We'll be doing some previews and promoting that on Instagram and Facebook as well. So keep an eye out for that. And if you're listening to us for the very first time, our show features things that we love it Disney. And in each episode we typically have a guest who shares and talks about how they create Disney magic for listeners at home or on their Disney vacations from vacation planners to product producers. Our guests bring Disney magic into your life. So as a reminder to our listeners, we appreciate those five star reviews on apple podcasts as well as those five-star customer ratings that just makes it easier for other future listeners to find us, helps us boost our ranking. So we greatly appreciate that support from all of you. And for today's show we will be joined a little bit later with a call from Morgan from magical pop co. She's a really awesome, um, in middle school teacher who does some cool popsocket designs that are all Disney. She has custom designs as well as character inspired ones. So she has some really neat things and so we're super excited to have her on the show a little bit later. And one nice thing is that she has done a special promo code for our listeners. Chris, do you want to give that to[inaudible]?

Speaker 2:

Yes, the code is does love 20 d I s l o v e two zero all upper case for 20% off your purchase. And I think what's awesome is it at the time of, you know when the podcast goes live, we're just going to be getting into, you know, kind of Christmas buying season in these,

Speaker 1:

her products are awesome, will be perfect stocking stuffers. And again, I'm not a popsocket guy, but I would be getting a new phone soon. I'm going to consider getting a pop second from my own phone. Yes. And so we're super excited to have her a little bit later on the show and because Morgan offers a practical product, I thought that we should talk about some of the practical services that we all probably end up using and needing at Disney, but you might not know where to find or how to get to them, et cetera. And they're definitely not as exciting as fast track test check, test[inaudible] yeah, test whatever, test track, fast track. It's all the same. Yeah. So we're going to be talking about the business centers, mailing services, a few other things, fast track. It's test check.[inaudible] whoops. So we'll be talking about all those different things and today's show and hopefully it can help you if you are kind of in that position where you're at the parks and you need to take care of them. Yeah. Business. So first up are the business centers. So if you need to get access to a computer, you need to make photocopies, other office services that you may need. The, the best place to go is you're going to head over to the conference centers that are at the Disney convention hotels. And we've actually had to use one of these before. Do you remember? We are there for our viewers. Yeah, no, we'll say no. Um, I was getting my flowers preserved from our vow renewal. Yeah, I knew also we had to go over to the contemporary resort in, use their business center there. So if you're looking to have some of those additional kind of business services done, you're gonna want to head over to, there's a shared one that's at Disney's yacht and beach club resorts. They have a shared one, the boardwalk in contemporary resort, which is one that we've been to cornetto springs and grand Floridian resort and spa. And then also the swan and Dolphin. They each have a business center that's right off their main lobbies. Now the ones at the Disney convention center hotels, like for instance at contemporary, it was down in the wing where the convention on rooms are. So if you're going to check those out, don't assume it's right at the front desk because it's not most of the time. So when you're going to these business centers, you can be, you don't even have to be staying on property. So if you do have to go ship something or anything like that and you're not seeing it at a Disney resort, but you're at magic kingdom, you could hop on the monorail and go over to Grand Floridian and contemporary and you can use the services. Of course you have to pay for them. Uh, but they also have computer services. So if you needed to, obviously we all have our phones now where you can do a lot of things, but sometimes you may be for business or you have some sort of documents you've got to sign whatever it may be. They have computer usage. Um, they do have a 10 minute minimum on those. So it's nice to if you have your laptop and you just need to go hookup and print or do anything like that, you're able to do that as well. Another nice thing is they have like print and scan and copy services. So if you're doing an event, like we've talked about different events that we've had at Disney and you need to make some last minute copies or anything, you can do all of that. Um, all kinds of different things. And I know depending on if you are someone who's traveling internationally, you may have to print your boarding passes if you're not using magical express. Um, so those are some things that you could go and do at any of those business p at any of those business centers. And they have a wide array of things as well. Now, another thing that kind of you can do at the business centers in some cases, but you may need to do just in general is shipping and postal services. So one of the things that I know my family has been guilty of is that we tend to buy more than what me, you may have space for in our suitcases. So we've talked a little bit in some of our shopping episodes about how you can save your receipts and you can ship from the hotels. But there's a couple of different things that when you are thinking about having something that you might be sending out or there's been a few cases, like when we had our wedding or when we had our vow renewal, we actually had stuff shipped ahead to our Disney resort. I know some people will ship things rather than paying the luggage fees because sometimes it's cheaper to mail stuff down to yourself rather than paying those extra baggage fees. So there's a couple of different things that are important to know. Um, when you are looking at, um, sending out things, your package can be picked up from your actual Walt Disney resort. So you can contact the front desk and they can help you out. And that's for the hotels that don't have a business center. So for instance, we stay at Port Orleans Riverside a lot and we've had where we've had packages sent out from there and if you talk to them at the front desk, they can help you with that if you're not at one of those hotels with a business centers and a couple of other things, they have flat rates based on how much the weight of your packages kind of like ups or the postal service would do anyways. Um, they have basic handling fees and it kind of varies from$5 up to$100.

Speaker 2:

Question Vanessa? Yeah. So you mentioned about people maybe be like shipping their stuff down there. So like for example, you know, you can't quite time the mail or ups, FedEx, whatever it might be. So what happens if you, your stay starts on a Monday, but your package that you shipped arrives on a Sunday. Will they hold your package even though you haven't checked in?

Speaker 1:

Yes. So what you want to do is on the package label you want to put whoever the guests is the registered, like the room is registered under. And I've always put the guest reservation number is well because I know like when we went for our wedding we arrived there and wow, I think we had at least five or six big boxes that we had shipped down. And I know Chris might not recall this, but we had, they had arrived the day before and bell services had them and when we got there we just called front and they delivered them right to our room. So, but we had put the name that was on the room reservation as well as the reservation number on there. So you'll want to make sure that you do that. Um, the other thing is that you send it to the front desk address. So you want to make sure that you look up the front desk address for your resort. Um, the other thing is that you can do, have, what do people always like to do nowadays? What are people usually typically using? Amazon. Amazon. Yes. So if you have Amazon or groceries that are coming to your, to Disney, now we've done the Amazon. Now what's the one that's like really fast? Like within, I think it's Amazon now. I see the food. Well, this, we had like my dad needed, he had forgot his brace for his knee, so he needed one when we were down on a trip not too long ago. And we did the quick turnaround. Amazon. And if you have things sent to bell services or like you meet them at the front, there's no fee. However, if you have groceries or other like Amazon, like deliveries, like we've had shipped, we had shipped that, um, we use at home for grocery delivery and we had a target delivery brought to us when we were at porter lanes. If you meet them up front or you have it left for you at bell services, there's no fee. However, Disney has instituted, there's a$6 fee if you haven't brought right to your room because that means bell services is having to deliver it and provide that little bit extra amount of service. So keep that in mind. There is that$6 package handling fee if it comes right to your room.

Speaker 2:

So I might've missed this. Okay. But let's just say you use whatever delivery service is available, right? I ordered my, are those people able to drive onto property and giving my groceries?

Speaker 1:

Yes. Yes. So like we use Shipt, I think instacart in some of those other ones are down there as well. Cause I know on Shipt Publix is on there down there. Target. Yes. They can come to Disney property to the front. They can't come. They're not supposed to come right directly to your room. They're supposed to meet you at the front or leave it for you at bell services for at your resort. So that's something that you'll want to keep in mind. If you, if you're doing grocery delivery and you have perishable items, you'll want to consider that what time you're having that delivery in particular. If you want to avoid paying that$6 fee.

Speaker 2:

But I think is neat about this, didn't we? I think we did this is that because again, even if you're trying to save a couple of dollars in the park, you have a backpack, which I never took a backpack until this last trip. Um, and then you had things shipped in. I mean you arguably could really save a good amount of money by plus you have foods that will, you're not always reliant on whatever's open at whatever time. So. Huh.

Speaker 1:

That's interesting. Yeah. So those are some things to keep in mind. And one other thing I forgot to mention, when you are doing those labels, if you're mailing something to yourself, like you're shipping something, make sure you put your arrival date on the label as well. Cause that's very important that you put the guest and your arrival date. Because that way Disney is gonna know that, oh, this person is in, isn't coming in like six months are coming tomorrow. So make sure that you put your arrival date on the label. That's what Disney suggests as well. So those are important things to remember. We've had bottled water delivered the last time I was there last fall. I was with a friend who has a lot of dietary restrictions, so she had delivery right to the room of a bunch of different food items because she used the fridge there. So even if you have to pay that$6 fee, like Chris mentioned, if you, you know, you're gonna be drinking a lot of bottled water or something, it's well worth it. The amount that you're going to save in the end compared to maybe paying out of pocket in the parks. Um, some other things that you wanna remember is sometimes you haven't needed stamps. Like maybe you're, I like to mail postcards. They're getting harder and harder. I know they're getting harder and harder to find, but if you have postcards or other letters that you want to send, you can buy stamps. They have places in every single one of the parks that you can buy stamps. In fact, in most of the parks there's more than one place that you can buy them. Also at Disney springs and the transportation and ticket center as well as the front desk or the concierge desk at the different um, resorts or sometimes they'll send you to the gift shop. I know I've been at some of the resorts and they've sent me to the gift shop to purchase the sams, but you are able to get stamps. So if you have anything that you just need to send from there and have even had random things that I've needed to send out while if you're taking a little bit longer trip so you are able to get stamps on. The one thing I try to do though is usually, as I mentioned, I like to mail postcards. Usually it's just regular stamps. So I typically try to remember to buy stamps at home so I can get those postcard stamps compared to regular sams. But if it doesn't matter to you, you can get plain stamps at any Disney hotel as well. So those are nice and there's mailboxes all throughout property. I usually will take my postcards and my backpack and when we're standing in line I fill them out and I'll drop them in the mailbox right in the park because it's convenient. It's nice, it's easy to be able to do it. And as we all know you often spend a lot of time standing in line at Disney. So if you're not experiencing some of the fun things on the new apps they have, you can write a postcard and mail it out at the parks as well. So these are just a few of the kind of practical things that you can utilize in the services that are available at Disney. And so we are super excited to have up next is our call with Morgan from magical pop co and she's going to share with us all about her really cool product that's also very practical and something that you can use every day.

Speaker 3:

So we would like to welcome Morgan to today's show. Business is magical pop co and she is a middle school teacher who currently lives in Indiana with her partner and she's an Avid Disney fan and you know holder. She spends a lot of time planning trips and going to Disney as much as possible. We are so excited to have Morgan on the show with us today. Thank you for joining us today.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

Thank you so much. I'm so excited to be here.

Speaker 3:

So we always like to start off every episode with the icebreaker cause we like to hear a little bit about what you'd like it Disney. So if you could just tell us what is your favorite snack at a Disney park.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

That is probably the hardest question ever because one of my favorite things to do, I'd just be in general is obviously right now I'm, I'm obsessed with the giant.

Speaker 1:

Oh whoa. Yeah, we love, we haven't tried[inaudible] donut man. Yeah, we have done it. People,

Speaker 4:

we have three flavors of, I've only tried the strawberry because I'm very, very partial to strawberries labored, but it is amazing. It's not dry or anything. It's awesome. I love.

Speaker 3:

And where do you get it usually? Is that on main street or,

Speaker 4:

um, I think through that also led to filling him with the Starbucks, um, as well. But I have gotten them at the Cheshire cafe.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay. Yeah, we will. You're going in a few months. I'm definitely going to have to add that to our list cause we love donuts, that's for sure. So[inaudible] Morgan, if you could tell us a little bit about your business and what are some of the products that you offer connected to Disney.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so I'm, I'm called magical propco because I primarily offer phone grips or popsocket, um, perhaps set attached your phone so that you can better hold your phone, take selfies with your phone, um, raise your phone up like on a, on a table. It can be leaning on the pop socket. And of course they're all Disney things.

Speaker 1:

Right, right. Very cool. So with them were good. What was the inspiration for you to start your business?

Speaker 4:

Uh, honestly I just wanted to create them for myself. I'd seen some online, but they weren't exactly what I was looking for. So I did a lot of different research, figured out a way that I could make, um, kind of tested it out. And then my family love them as well to try for same family love them. So I was like, okay, well just make a couple for them for me. Um, and then I had so much supplies, leftovers. I was like, okay, let me just sell a couple of these, just the money for the supplies. And once I started, once I posted a few things on Instagram, like the feedback I was getting from friends and family was so great. Um, and I've heard it told a couple, I was kinda like, okay, well, okay, maybe I'll follow a couple more. Um, and then it just kinda took off. It was awesome. Um, and so then I've, I've come out with, I don't even know how many styles and I just, I love, it's like a never ending way to be creative and just need to everything.

Speaker 1:

Now. How long ago did you start your business?

Speaker 4:

I only started it in May. I started experimenting in April. I started in May and yeah, and I've, um, I've done almost 800 sales and oh my goodness. It's been crazy.

Speaker 1:

Oh Wow. That's awesome. So can you tell us, you kind of alluded a little bit, but how do you think your products can add a little Disney magic to our listeners lives?

Speaker 4:

I just think that we all know what it's like when you, when you go to Disney and then you have the sad feeling when you have to go home to reality, right? So anytime you can just have a little small piece that maybe it's, you know, you just see it when you're at work cause everybody has their phone all the time. Right? It's always on you. Um, when you're at work or you're just out and about and you Miss Disney. Just having that little piece there, that is something that reminds you of going home and being connected with all of your favorite magical memories. Um, I, that's for me what it does for me and my family. We, we love it.

Speaker 1:

So what are your, some of your, tell our listeners about some of the different designs you've done and a little bit more about the popsocket.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so, um, I've done a lot of different designs in terms of time. I don't do character faces, but I like to allude to characters or the[inaudible] thing. So I've done quite a few princesses I have like, so wait, jasmine? Um, I have, uh, like you have bell, I have, um, a, I'm working on an Aurora one at the moment. Okay. Um, and then I also have a repentance. A one that I love is really pretty in sparkly. Um, I'm trying to do some villains ones and then I just like to mix things up. One of my most popular ones is the rose gold. Everybody's obsessed with rose.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I saw that one. That is really nice. Yeah,

Speaker 4:

it's super sparkly. It looks great in the sun and crave natural light. Um, another one that I love is my Funfetti, but still quite a bit of a variety and I offer custom items too. So a customer, you know, has a specific color combination that they want or even a kind of an illusion to a character, I could do that as well.

Speaker 1:

Okay. And then what do you, do you do custom designs cause it sounds like you were talking about how you've been trying out some different things. Do you do custom designs or how does that kind of work?

Speaker 4:

I do, I do. I have some designs and a lot of times like has some designs, insurance, something that I keep regularly in the shop. Um, I recently, I haven't released it yet, but I recently did a fully one that had the blue coloring with some little purple blushes that kind of looked like his spots and then I added some horns, some white horns on. I did that for a customer and it turned out really well. So think I'll definitely be adding that to the shop soon. Um, and a lot of times customers think of things too that I have never thought of. Um, like flower crowns and other little pieces that, um, I can do a lot of cool things with. So if anyone ever has customization question, I recommend they, you know, reach me on Instagram or on Etsy and, and I can, I can always try. I can't do everything, but I almost always try to at least make it happen.

Speaker 2:

Thank you Morgan. And you just mentioned that, where can people find you? Would you please share your Etsy shopping, your Instagram name?

Speaker 4:

Yup. My handles the same for everything as magical pop co. So you can find me at facebook.com/magical co Pubco, etsy.com/medical Falco and then as well on Instagram. That is my handle there.

Speaker 2:

So a couple of questions. So you know, Christmas is a little bit of way. Sure. This will really, it would be I think a perfect stocking stuffer. If somebody wanted something from you either in stock or a custom order, how, when should they contact you to make sure they had it by Christmas?

Speaker 4:

Um, right now my turnaround time is a little bit longer than it normally is to like one to two weeks. Um, but usually I can get things out within a week, no problem. Um, because holidays do tend to be a little bit crazier. If you want to make sure that, you know, you're getting it out there before December of your early shopper reach out to me now and I could see whatever. I can do it, get it to you as soon as possible. Um, I will have some more holiday designs are going to be coming out, um, once we get through the fall and Halloween season here. So towards the end of October. Okay. Um, but my turnaround time is pretty quick. I'm just one person, but this is where, but I am able to get in and out pretty quickly.

Speaker 2:

No, just a question. I, I'll admit I don't use a popsocket, so please forgive me. But like right now I have an older phone and I may be getting a phone in the next couple of months. If I get one of these pop sockets for my phone in my, is it, does it stay on one phone or can I transfer it?

Speaker 4:

Um, Popseq is, are actually technically reusable. So the reason that I use authentic Bob talk is I get them from the popsocket website is because they have a special adhesive on the back that can be washed with just simply water. And then when you, when you let it air dry for about 10 minutes or so, it becomes really sticky. So you simply can just get it peeled off of your one foam case and put it on another. I've done this many, many times. Um, and you don't have to be stuck with that one case forever or, or never be able to use your popsocket again.

Speaker 3:

Now I noticed too, your designs, what is the size of your, your Mickey heads? Are they the typical size of a popsocket or are they a little larger?

Speaker 4:

They're definitely a little larger. Um, they're probably about three inches diagonally, um, from year to the side of the face. Um, and depending on whether you get a mini versus a Micky, the thickness is going to vary too. So they are a little bit bulkier. But like I said, they are awesome to use, uh, for like basically like a kickstand for you're right. I use them all the time when I'm traveling like on the plane. Oh, that's a great idea. Turn, pop the ears. I was like, perfect. Little little stat and then you can watch your movie on the plane.

Speaker 1:

Oh Wow. That is really awesome.

Speaker 4:

And for taking pictures like, oh, that works really well too.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Vanessa loves taking photos. So if you wouldn't mind sharing, what was the first order that you received? You remember the design?

Speaker 4:

Yes. It was just a classic rose gold as before I had my rose gold many. And so it was just big chunky rose gold glitter. Ooh, Nice. Beautiful.

Speaker 1:

And then what would you say is probably your most creative design to date?

Speaker 4:

Um, creative. Oh, can I really? I don't know if it's the most creative, but I like it because it's so unique. I love my voice with apple one. Yeah, I know like cool. You know, like it doesn't necessarily look like an apple, but even like today I want, my niece was helping me pack up some of these orders and she knew exactly what it was. I mean, she's a big Disney person, but she knew exactly what it was. She's like, Oh, I love this boy. And the, the glitter that I use for the, for the cream just looks very like bubbly. Um, and just, it looks very pennis finished or, um, in person to it. Love it.

Speaker 1:

And with that, for your custom designs, is that real quick? Is that the same turnaround time as your regular designs?

Speaker 4:

Usually, yeah, sometimes depending on if you're a custom orders, a little bit more complicated, um, and I need a few days to kind of play around with it. It can take a little bit longer, but usually I've been able to get those out within a week or two as well.

Speaker 1:

Okay, great. And then as we mentioned earlier in the show, Morgan has been gracious enough to provide a promo code for our listeners, which will save you 20% on your order. So make sure to enter. Does love 20 when placing your order, you'll get 20% off your purchase and I will make sure to put that in the show notes along with all of the links of where you can get ahold of Morgan and checkout magical pop co.

Speaker 4:

Yes and if you're looking for a custom order you can still use that coupon code. I will just, I will just make a um, a custom listing for you to just reach out to me and let me know.

Speaker 1:

Okay, perfect. Well thank you again for joining us today. We really appreciate it. We are so excited to be able to share your products with our listeners and thanks again for taking time to join us.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, absolutely. Thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 1:

Thank you again Morgan for joining us today and as a reminder, I know we just talked about it with Morgan, but don't forget to use that, does love 20 code when checking out from her Etsy store for that exclusive discount for our listeners, I'll put it in our show notes as well. So definitely check out our products, get a cool pop socket and be able to use it on your next trip or just in your everyday life. And so now we are on to our quick Trivia and wisdom from Walt quo. And so Chris, that means you are up. Awesome. Well, you know with the theme

Speaker 2:

being, you know, using the mail services. I have a couple of of questions, Vanessa for you about stamps. Okay. So when in just give me the decade. Okay. Yeah, it's a little bit much.

Speaker 5:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Mickey mouse made his debut November 18th, 1928 but when was he first on a u s postage stamp? I'm going to say the 1930s you are way, way, way, way, way, way, way off. Okay. Probably sixties it wasn't until 2004 no way. Correct. He was part of the art of Disney ship. Those are the Disney friendship. It was a 37 stamp and he was, he was a self adhesive with he and Goofy and Donald Duck. And so isn't it something else? But here's an interesting, Mickey was on stamps in the mail. Beavs Gambia and Tega in Barbados as well as Portugal. All well in advance of being in the u s you have us. Wow. Here's the next question. When was the first time Walt Disney was on a stamp?

Speaker 1:

I think that's the two thousands as well.

Speaker 2:

Am I wrong on that? You are wrong. I am. Okay. This one, it was actually, he was first recognized on a stamp in 1968 oh wow. Oh, because when he died probably, correct. Yeah, but, and then just to kind of capture this to what's interested is that there was a Mickey short in 1933 where Mickey played a postman. Oh, short titled Male pilot. M A. I. L. P. I. L. O. T. Wow. So that is some inner, and I think, and also there's most recently there was a villains series of stamps. Yes, yes. There were 10 nasty Disney villains on stamps. So you know what, here's the thing. I mean maybe if you want to, can you get somebody at, you know, Caramel wise, you put a love sticker on somebody you love Disney villain out when you don't, so you know, interesting. But I really found it interesting about Mickey considering all the things that had been on stamps. It took them that long to have Mickey mouse and we were at one of the early d 23 conventions

Speaker 1:

and we were there when the postmaster general released a series.

Speaker 2:

That's not what they do with[inaudible]. That was really cool. I do and I want to take my friends@disneydiary.com for putting all this wonderful trip because again, folks are for the Disney Trivia. I always try to give credit to the websites that do the hard work, but there's just so much, there's just so much there.

Speaker 1:

Wow. 2004 seems so late. I'm glad. Then when we got married in 2008 there were some Disney stamps I was able to use when we did various things for our wedding. So very cool. Interesting information. So we're going to end out today's show with a wisdom from Walt quote as usual. So here's one that I thought is pretty inspiring, at least to me in terms of getting things done. People often ask me if I know the secret of success and if I could tell others how to make their dreams come true, my answer is you do it by working. And that's a great point. Really everything that we've talked about today really revolves around work and some of those things that you may have to do when you're on vacation as well. Um, but while it really honed in on that key to success, you have to get out there and you have to take what you want and you have to be driven to make it happen. So thank you so much for joining us again on this episode of the does love podcast with Vanessa and Chris. I'm Vanessa and I'm Chris
