Welcome to the does love podcast with Vanessa and Chris. I'm Vanessa Ferguson. Chris Jones, we would like to welcome you to show number 25 and for any listeners joining us for the first time, our show features, things that we love at Disney and in each episode we typically have a guest who creates Disney magic for our listeners at home or on their Disney vacations from vacation planners to product producers. Our guests bring Disney magic into your lives. As a reminder to our listeners, we appreciate you leaving a five star review on apple podcasts. We always give our listeners shout outs and future episodes for leaving those and we would also like to thank all of you who've given us those five karst five-star customer ratings. We greatly appreciate those too. And onto today's show today we are going to be joined by Trisha from wandering, right. She owns a shop that specializes in really cool vintage inspired Disney circle skirts. She also has some unique upside gold creations including autograph jackets and when you're listening or after you've listened to the show, go and check out her Etsy store and use the code, does love all caps, does love, and you'll get a special discount that is exclusively for our listeners, which is pretty cool. Chris, what do you think? That is very cool. Yes, so she's got some great stuff and I was so inspired by Tricia's jackets, the autograph jackets that she has, so she has like vintage prints, but then she also has some autograph jackets. So today we're going to be talking about unusual character greetings at each of the four parks. We've already talked about some things like where you can find Mickey. If you go back to episode seven you can find all the great spots to meet up with Mickey. And then you can also learn about all of the meet and greets for the various princesses in episode 11 and I'll make sure to put links in the show notes for both of those shows. But in today's episode we're going to focus on characters that are unique to each park. And I'm wondering if Chris, when we go through some of these, maybe he'll be able to guess. Some of them are. There are few that we've seen and some we haven't and we have to add to our bucket list, but one thing that I always like to let people know is make sure to check the times guide when you arrive at a park. Look on the my Disney experience app to see where characters will be meeting and appearing. Sometimes there's pop-up characters and there are some that you can get fast passes for. I will say that most of them, unless they are, some of the princesses will give some tips. You don't always have to have a fast pass. In fact, most of the time I would suggest not having a fast pass, but we'll talk about that as we get to each of the parks and probably the most natural one. We're going to start with magic kingdom. Can you think of an unusual character that we've seen at magic kingdom? Olaf. Olaf is not at magic kingdom. Who is somebody that you like? Oh Good Stan. Yeah, so good. Stan is one of the unique characters that you can only meet at magic kingdom. He's what's called the French courtyard, but I've never really heard anybody referred to that way in person bits right by guests. Don's tavern in fantasy land. And if you get a chance to meet him, I thought he was pretty interactive when he has a lot of good quips, he talks really well. It's a fun experience and I think with those face characters sometimes you get a little bit more interaction and he's definitely one of those. Um, some other ones that you can meet there. I'm also at Magic Kingdom is Marietta at fairy tale garden. Um, so she of course is from brave. My, one of my best friends, Marietta is her favorite character. Um, so I have visited her before with my friend. She's in a place called fairytale garden and it's as it's kind of near the castle, but it's when you're going to fantasy land around towards kind of the tomorrow land side. He can also meet Tinkerbell at town square theater. I don't know. Have you ever met Tinkerbell, Chris? I don't know. You know. See I met Tinkerbell one time, Chris had to leave a day early for work. And so I, we already had reservations and I stayed an extra day and I went and met Tinkerbell by myself and I enjoyed that and I think I've met her with some friends as well. Um, but I don't think Chris has met Tinkerbell yet. You can also tinker bell's counterpart of course is Peter Pan. He frequently does meet and greats in fantasy land there as well. Now another person that you can meet is Ariel in aerial. Here's a kind of a catch. Ariel, you can meet in other places around Disney world, but what do you think is unique to Ariel in magic kingdom? She's in a clam. Yes. Yeah, yeah. She is where she appears as a mermaid. Now you can meet her at some of the princess breakfastses and things, but she's not a mermaid. So if you meet her in magic kingdom, she's in Ariel's grotto and she, it's right behind Prince Eric's castle and fantasy land. And my cousin Ariel is her favorite character and she always makes sure to see Ariel. So that's a shout out to my cousin Kylie. I'm also at magic kingdom. Another princess that you can meet that you can't meet anywhere else is Rapunzel from tangled and you can meet her at the Princess Fairytale Hall. Chris may not remember this story, but we met her one time and she's like going into this whole long story about the scene in the movie with the lanterns and asking us about like romance and I don't think you had any clue what she thought. I do remember this. I had no clue. Yeah. So I don't even know that you've even watched tangled, but he knows who re puzzle is. But it was just funny because she was telling this really long story and I knew he had no clue what she was talking about. Now those are the different characters at magic kingdom. And so of course there's some of those that we have met in some that we've not. Um, definitely I think we need to make our way back to Tinkerbell because I don't know that Chris has met her and now we're going to move over. I kind of did these in a different order cause I typically go magic kingdom than Epcot. But today going to talk about animal kingdom next and there's a couple of characters that I think would be fun that I've personally never met. And these go back to duck. And of course there are is those, the new ducktails cartoon that's out and I just started watching it. It's pretty good. You can meet launchpad mid quack and scrooge McDuck in Dyno Lin. Wow, that's awesome. So I'd like to do that next time we're down and make a trip to animal kingdom. I think it would be fun. I saw some pictures online that have people meeting them. It looked pretty cool. Another unique princess that you can meet at animal kingdom. I think it's kind of obvious. Which princess do you think you can meet in animal kingdom? Chris Milana? No, actually that's a good guess, but no animal kingdom.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

I don't know Pocahontas well that makes sense. Yeah. So Pocahontas in her forest friends are near the tree of life at the discovery island trail that kind of goes around the tree. Another person that you can meet in his sidekick, which we've met, it's been many, many years. But we met Russell and Doug from up, well yeah, we've met them a long, long time ago. We probably need to make our rounds again and you can also meet flick from a bug's life and supposedly Tarzan is there sometimes as well, all in discovery island. And we personally haven't met flick or Tarzan. So we're going to have to try to look that up next time we're at animal kingdom until we don't spend a ton of time at animal kingdom because most of these we haven't gotten a chance to meet yet. Now another recent thing they have is a co Akuna Matata time dance party. That's the animal kingdom. And so if you go and participate in the dance party, you'll have to moan and Rififi and Ballou. So you have some of the lion king. It's in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Lion King. So you have the lion king characters, you have Baloo from jungle book, um, Coda from brother Bear Turk from Tarzan and Meeko from Pocahontas. Now we've met some of these characters and other places like we met Ballou a long time ago at the front of animal kingdom. We've met Coda at Disney land. Um, and I think Turk, we met one time at the front of the parks, but it's Kinda Nice. They're all together at the dance party. So I would suggest checking out that hook. Akuna Matata dance party if you have a chance at animal kingdom. But yeah, those are a lot of characters. Oh, out of those ones at animal kingdom that we haven't met. Who would you like to meet? Scrooge McDuck. Yeah, I'd like to meet him and I think launchpad mcquick that would be kind of cool to be able to meet them. Woo. Now moving over to Epcot. There's a couple of the princesses that are only at Epcot and we've met some of them and some of them we haven't. You can meet Milan in China and I don't think we've met Milan before. I don't remember. I'll have to go back and look at pictures maybe from years ago. You can. Another one that I just met on a trip last fall with my friend waited in line to make sure we got to meet her was Aurora in France. So that was fun. We got to tour it from sleeping beauty. So she has the pink dress and something that I thought was unique but it turned out it's not an, it makes sense. It's not his, I thought Snow White was only in Germany cause we met snow white a few years ago. But now she also does meet and greet. Sometimes I'm by mine train in fantasy land. Which makes sense. Yes, that makes a lot of sense. So I think she used to only be an Epcot but now you can find her elsewhere. So I didn't hand her to the stylist. And one of WHO's your favorite Disney movie? Olof frozen. So but all offs not there. But who are his, the princess is also in Ana. Yeah. So they are at the Royal Summer House, which of course is in Norway and adjacent to the frozen ride. And that is a, that's probably one of those ones that you would may want to invest getting a fast pass in because those lines can tend to be long. Now, one tip that I've learned and that I've seen to be true as well as kind of maybe don't head to those right when they first open, go to them a little bit later at night and you might be able to slip in with a lower wait time. So that way you're not having to use one of those precious FastPasses for a meet and greet, but in an Elsa Erewhon that if you really want to meet them, you probably may want to snag a fastpass for one of your days. Some other unique characters, which I don't even know if you would recognize some of these joy and sadness. Yeah. From, um, we watched this movie from my job. Yes. What's it called? What's the movie called? Now? My mind is going feelings. We'll come back to that. Um, so Joey and sadness and then also baymax. Yeah. From, uh, the, the one movie. Yeah. I, I can't remember. That's terrible. I don't remember. And sadness. Um, but when we look at those are also in there at the character spot. I just met them with my friend when we were there in the fall and we didn't have a fast path. There was not that long of a wait. Um, it was nice because we were able to get in and they have really cool set a cool set for Bay Max that you can get with the, that looks like the scene from the movie and it Kinda got like a Tokyo backdrop inside out. How could we forget the inside out joy and sadness from inside out. And then of course they are in the same space as Baymax, which makes it pretty easy. We got in one line, got our photos with Baymax, he's from, he's from big hero, I'm six and that was a good, that was a cute show. But they are right in the same area and they character spot. And of course the regular side of the original side of the character spot has like the fab four. Now moving over to, so you leave at cod, who are some of the unique characters that you can meet at Hollywood studios in the one that Chris has been guessing for lots of the other parks now you would have it correct your favorite character. Oh off. Yes. So Olaf, you can be at Echo Lake and we've met him several times there. It's a nice setup they have where it looks like he's on the hill in the beach on a summer vacation. So that's nice. And I don't think we've ever really waited longer than maybe 15 or 20 minutes for Olaf. Yeah, it's quick and I don't even know if you can get a fast pass for it, but we've always just walked up and waited a short amount of time. A couple of other characters that are unique are Mike and Sully from monsters inc you can meet them at animation courtyard and whoever does them might costume in the summer has got to be so hot. Um, but they, I've met them a long, long time ago, but they are available at the animation courtyard now. If you have any little ones, they have some of the Disney junior pals also in that area you can meet doc McStuffins and typically there are a few other, I think Princess Sophia is sometimes there. So some of the Disney junior pals are there now. We're not big star wars fans, but at star wars launch bay you can meet Chewbacca and Kylo Ren. I was there in the fall and they had a special Disney visa area where you could meet BB eight. Right[inaudible] or BB six star wars. Um, so, so, um, but Chewbacca is kind of cool. We've met Kylo Ren. Um, they had, did have a private one for him with the Disney visa. Yeah. Yeah. He has a good character interaction with the movie, but he's a cooler. It was very, it was, it's a good experience. If he had chance to meet them now, just like the Akuna Matata Dance Party at animal kingdom, they now have a dance party at Hollywood studios and this is called the incredible Super Shindig dance party. And in this dance party, if you participate, there's going to be like interactive games and you'll be able to have a chance to meet Mr. Incredible Alasta girl frozen. And it looks like there's sometimes some of the other Incredibles as well. So that kind of rounds out all the unique characters that you can find at Hollywood studios. And as I kind of mentioned with some of the princesses, with a lot of these, as long as you don't go right at the beginning of the day when it's super busy, if you wait a little bit later in the day, the lines are shorter. We've done some of the princesses at magic kingdom. When it's like the extra magic hours, you can tend to get some extra, um, a shorter line so you don't have to wait, pay attention. As I mentioned to the Times Guide, sometimes there will be pop-up characters that appear that aren't necessarily there all the time. I've met like lady Tremaine and some of the stepsisters and the fairy godmother and little things like that. Also remember if you're going to, Mickey's not so scary Halloween Party or Mickey's very merry Christmas party, there's always gonna be some unique characters there. Typically the lines may be longer, but it's great if you're really wanting to get that chance to get those photos. The Disney after hours now they have the villains version. Hopefully they continue that into the fall. They now only have dates release through I think September, but definitely keep an eye out. I'm sure Disney will continue to do those and around the holidays they tend to have like we've gotten our picture. Do you remember years ago we got our picture of the Easter bunny, like the girl and the boy Easter bunny, they send stemmed around the holidays that we, they, we got our picture of of the Easter Bunny. They have Santa at Christmas. Little things like that, so if you're traveling around the holidays, it's worthwhile to check. But I always enjoy, I think even as adults we enjoy getting the character photos right.

Speaker 3:

I love the character because you know when you write a lot of the rides and things get a little common. It's more because the characters, you have to be in the right place at the right time. Yes. And there's always limited availability. So to be able to get your, like when we hit our first time we got that photo with Olaf. That was awesome.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it makes, and it's kind of in the nice thing is that even if you are a group traveling without kids, the characters can treat you the same as if you had five little ones in tow.

Speaker 3:

Well, and I remember when we were doing our movies in the park program, we saw bell and we had something for like movies in the park. And so we got, it was fun to get our photo with the character holding up some about the movies. And I know with um, we got a special message from Mickey last time and so that was fun. And so I think that really adds some nice variety where it's a case of, you have to think ahead, you have to play to take it into the park. But they have really that personal photo with that character. That's awesome. And also too, like they'll do the autograph stuff. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Well, and that's a great point. So up next we're gonna have our call with Tricia from wandering, right? And as we mentioned, she'll talk about more, we'll ask her some questions about what she has some really cool jackets that kids can get autographed. So if you're going to meet some of these characters, not only can you have them autograph books or traditional things, there's all kinds of co-products that some of the different vendors that we have on the show have. Especially we're going to hear from Trisha and she's going to talk about her really cool autograph jackets. So give us just a few minutes and we will get Trisha's call up.

Speaker 4:

We would like to welcome Tricia to the show. She has a business called wandering, right? And she makes a lot of different custom shirts and jackets and different things. So we're going to hear about that a little bit later in. So we'd like to welcome Tricia to the show.

Speaker 5:

Hi, good morning. Thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 4:

We always like to start each of our interviews with an icebreaker question related to something about Disney travel. And so today we wanted to find out from you, what is your favorite snack at a Disney park? Like

Speaker 5:

I said,[inaudible] I would have to say is[inaudible]. Okay.

Speaker 4:

Oh, okay. Yeah, I love Dole whips too, so I always had, I liked the dole whip, like the, where they put the pineapple juice on top of it too.[inaudible] yeah. Yes. The float. Yep. Yep. Yep. So, yeah, and I love the vineyards too. Are you in California at Disneyland? Is that where you like or do you get up a park group? Less went to Mercer County. Oh, nice. Yeah. Very nice. So we always like to have you tell us about your business and what are the products that you offer that are connected to Disney?

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 5:

Um, my tagline is craft a long time and I feel like that's really accurate because like, no, specially just one thing. Um, I have a lot of different hobbies and different mediums that I like to work with. And so that kind of shows in my shop. Sure. I'd love to work with upside with clothing that like[inaudible] jacket. Um, essentially. So he was refrained word to me how much a core. Oh, nice. That's kind of bit[inaudible]

Speaker 4:

it is nice though to see that creativity come out though in those different items you have. It's where the big pieces. Tell us more about your business.

Speaker 5:

So I'm sorry, entrepreneurs that are repeated are upset with Jessica and then I'll flip through novel.[inaudible] yes. Tell them like, oh, skirt. Kind of. Um, and I kind of fell into that. Okay. I started, um, I found it actually[inaudible] factory for me and my friend. Okay. I like a totally at the totally[inaudible] everything. They're so excited for him. I don't, I don't want to pay nothing.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, it does add up, that's for sure.

Speaker 5:

Do I? I can totally[inaudible] why cannot totally do this and I'm terrible at it. I'm not sure about that, but I do hear about, I'd love to hear both. You don't have a four year old daughter. Sure. No, I'll feel terrible at that.[inaudible] one day time. Go Up.[inaudible] okay.[inaudible] found[inaudible] damn jacket that they[inaudible] sure. Yeah. But it Sydney, if we, okay. For example, what if I like buying those somehow? Oh Wow. Cool. Just went home and then, you know, put the fabric on there was just kind of playing around in the craft room and in the, by that up to show my husband. Okay. So that's kind of where I honestly stumbled into the Jacqueline. Okay. Um, my best friend[inaudible][inaudible] okay. Um, so I decided to try and make the proofing skirt just like as the fun, right. If I'm on a plane and, um, so I am sure I did with her. It's on an Instagram page, like we way back in the beginning. Sure.[inaudible] oh, hold on.[inaudible] oh, wow. I've a little owl, which I was like terrified of doing, but I've never employed her to Facebook for sure. Um,[inaudible] beautifully. We more than I had anticipated. I thought it was gonna be a disaster. She absolutely loved it. I'm like, you know what, the print, I found that women where people that, okay, why would I really like that? Or can we do this? The work shift work so well with, so we're waiting to draw from right to right tile for my bathroom. Yes. Isn't foundling no allowed to make the skirt. That's probably one of my favorite. It's very challenging and I get to meet a lot of different mediums in one project. Right. So it's really, it's really on me to see and then to see from, you know, I sketch all the way to usually skirt on somebody in front of the castle and like my favorite.

Speaker 4:

Sure. Now how did you, like you mentioned your husband said about selling it and then you had made one for your, a skirt for your friend. So what led you, like how'd you end up making that jump to having like your Etsy store and just starting your business officially?

Speaker 5:

Well, I had had an[inaudible] store for the heads. I was in bed. Okay. Sensory. Um, all right. I hit, I mean, I can't tell you how many times I've put my store on vacation and then it's, you know, I've had it for seven years and I've kind of had it there in the background and you know, I'd come back to it a couple of times. Okay. Like three years now or, oh, wow.

Speaker 4:

Right. It's awesome. You found your niche now.

Speaker 5:

I hope so.

Speaker 4:

And so, you know, with it. Tell us more. Where can people find your items there? Because you've mentioned you know these in Tulsa. Where are you at online?

Speaker 5:

Um, so I'm, I have my Etsy shop on this wandering, right. And I'm on Instagram a lot. That is where I think I do most of my promotion. Okay. Um, you'll kind of like work in progress. Here's what I'm working on today. Here's what I just sent off for different epic pictures back from phone on vacation. I'm sure they don't run the female. I just had one, two to send me a ton of pictures. Um, from[inaudible] trip they had four of my autograph Jack.

Speaker 4:

Yes. Those are so neat.

Speaker 5:

Good. And I went through, don't trouble with the picture. Everybody laughed and I was like, so cool. I feel like it's a little bit differently. When we hugged up at[inaudible], the kids liking it, we like, okay, you might actually be really cool

Speaker 4:

it right now. Can you tell, ah, we'll share some pictures, but for our listeners, could you explain a little bit about those autograph jackets?

Speaker 5:

Okay. So, um, a denim jacket or less. Um, and then instead of a pretty fabric like I usually do, I actually have a channel that I bought okay. With white. Um, I offer other colors too. The white seems to be the winner. Sure. And so that's in different spots. I live in a jacket and I'll even include little like making shapes patches or like a hard night. Um, and then I send avant markers. Oh, okay. Which characters to use to find my jacket.

Speaker 4:

Very neat. Very neat. Okay.

Speaker 5:

Apparently the face character, but I love it. It's such a cool thing. It just maybe great interaction and it's like a permanent seeking there that you can wear.

Speaker 4:

Right. And it's not, it doesn't, it's not a book that just gets shoved in a drawer somewhere or something. It's something you can see all the time.

Speaker 5:

You can only have so many picture frames or email. So this what's kind of a different way and I aware have been one. Um,

Speaker 4:

so that kind of content about them. Now that kind of leads to how do you think, just to kind of close out, how do you think your products add some Disney magic to our listeners lives? If they were to get your into your skirts or your jackets?

Speaker 5:

Um, for me it's all about that little extra touch that will, you know, I want you to have the best trophy you can have on this. That means doing it then like a really cool jacket thing was going to get autographs, but you might get, you don't want extra long interaction with the character. We were, I had one girl that actually, she was pre-coaching even one of my skirt. Oh Wow. That was kind of really special for her. It was a hundred dancer, the skirt, and that's her favorite side.[inaudible] so it happened with Raymond friends. Oh Wow. So that was like really, really special. Really. We have like how like I've kind of had heard that she'll have that memory and it'll be tied to that. Right, right. It's really an infinite pension that you're going to get when you're out. No.

Speaker 4:

Yes. Yes. Having those, I think those more unique products really makes you stand out at the for sure.

Speaker 5:

Yes.[inaudible] a really great photo opportunities too, which is like one of my big things is I love that perfect Disney picture.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah. That's, that's us too. Yup. For sure. Now what we will do is, I know you already mentioned some of the places where our listeners can find you. We will make sure, I will include links to all of that in our show notes. So are anyone listening to the show would be able to find your business and be able to see your great products on Etsy and connect with your Instagram page, et Cetera. So we really appreciate you, Trisha, taking time today to share with us about your business and your journey.

Speaker 5:

Thanks so much for having me.[inaudible].

Speaker 4:

Thank you again. And as we mentioned, we'll make sure to share some great pictures and stuff so our listeners can see all about your products.

Speaker 5:

I can't wait.

Speaker 3:

Thank you again to Trisha for joining us today. We really appreciate her being on the show. Yes. And with that we don't forget to use the code. Does love when checking out from her Etsy store to get an exclusive discount for our listeners. That means once you check out our awesome products, see how awesome they are and you want to buy it, use the Co's did, does love and you'll save money. Yes. And I'll make sure to put that in the show notes for you as well as the link to Trisha shop. So we're going to move on to our final portions of the show, which include our quick two minute trivia and our wisdom from walk quote. So we're gonna give it, I'm going to pass it over to Chris for our trivia. Awesome. So you know the focus of the show was characters in, so I'm going to have a handful of question. I'm gonna ask you some, we're going to be, where is this character located? So the, with the first one we're gonna start with Mickey Mouse is located in, how can we phone in how many locations? Hey, can I ask a question related to that? You May, is this only in the parks or does this also count restaurants in New York? So in with that he is in, no, am I supposed to guess? You can guess. Yes. I'm going to say 11 actually. He is in seven areas in the park and 10 areas in restaurants. Wow. So 17 total. 17 total. Wow. Minnie mouse is in 15 and so it really going to shows that dichotomy. Well I'm going to ask you another question. Okay. So where would you find Mike was Oskie Oh um, animation courtyard in Hollywood studio. That is correct. I only know that cause that was in one of the things you mentioned earlier. And again, I'm going to give it this always the critic characters central.net. Awesome. Mary Poppins is located in how many total sites? Let's see, we have seen her at 1900 park fair. I think we saw her at magic kingdom one time and then when we were there for our vow renewal, like our tour, we saw her in UK. So I'm going to say three, but it could be more. It actually is very for. Okay, where's the fourth one? I wonder. Um, so it's in Mickey's very merry Christmas party. Magic Kingdom. Ah, Liberty Square and then UK and then the supercalifragilistic breakfast. Okay. Yep. So I just missed at the Christmas party. Okay. So let's do one more. Where would you find little Bo peep? We'll do two, maybe a couple more. Maybe. Toy story land. Yeah, you're exactly right. We've never gotten her picture with her, but no. How about this one? This one goes back to Zootopia. Judy hops. I've seen her into Marlam but only during the Christmas party. That is correct. Wow. I, cause I only reason I know is I really wanted my picture with her and we were on the people mover during the party and the line was so long I didn't want to give up their oppression part time. Vanessa pulling one out of her head. Yeah, I really, I was really jealous of people. I wanted to get my picture with her, but it didn't work out. Maybe this year we are going to the Christmas party. That might have to be on my Mickey's very merry Christmas party bucket list. So now we're gonna go over to princesses. Oh, we're going to keep going. Okay. What is the largest size? Any princess could be like dress size? Yes. Six could no longer be bigger than a 10 Oh, that's not that. I mean that's pretty average. Yes. I mean how much do people on average make per hour? Oh, it's probably a minimum wage. It is not minimum wage. It's anywhere from 13 to$16 an hour, which kind of comes out to about 27 but a, according to this today.com website, there's very little, you can't hold them hostage and say, tomorrow I want to raise because you will be replaced. Hmm. So, and then what is the height requirements? They always seem shorter than me. Most of them. And so, okay, good. I would say maybe five, two, five, three five four to five. Seven. Oh. So they are right around my height. That makes sense. Correct. Cause when we get pictures they are usually right around. And then traditionally no Disney princess is older than, Oh, probably 28, 27. Oh. And so with that, how, if let's say you are picked, how many days of training do you get to become a Disney princess? Seven. Five. Hmm. So here's a question for you Vanessa. Oh Wow.
