I'm Vanessa Ferguson and I'm Kris Johns and we would like to welcome you to show number 11 and for any listeners joining us for the first time, our show features, things we love at Disney, and each episode had the guest who creates Disney magic for our listeners at home or on their Disney vacations. So from vacation planners to product producers. Our guests bring Disney magic into your life. And as a reminder for our long time listeners, please leave us a five star review on apple podcasts. We always give listeners a shout out on a future episode of the does love podcasts and we also would like to thank all of you who've left us a five star customer rating. We greatly appreciate those as well. And now on with the show. So today's topic is we are going to be looking at all of the places that you can meet the Disney princesses in the parks. And why is that? Well, because later on today our guest is going to be Kathlene from Kathlene's creations and she makes a lot of amazing products to bring Disney Magic to your home and to your trip and I'll give you a hint. A lot of them have glitter on them, so I can't wait to share a little bit about what she has. She has a lot of great glitter inspired products including magic bands and amazing painting. She does paintings and purses. Just some really cool thing. So I'm really excited to have Kathlene on the show later today, but before we get to that, we want to share a little bit. So when you have, when you're really cool glitter magic bands from Kathlene's creations and you are heading out to the Disney parks, we're going to talk about where you can get your pictures with a different princesses. Now, Kris, we've gotten our fair share of pictures with princesses, so we have a. We used to do a moving program in our community and every year we had features, some sort of Disney film, so it was always a quest for us to get pictures with the different characters and so we've gotten quite a few Disney princess pictures and there's some on this list that we haven't met yet. So I'm going to start with magic kingdom and I'm going to go with a little bit more, I would say more obscure ones that we haven't gotten and I'm betting Kris may not even know who some of these are. Probably not. So the first one is Merida. Do you know what she's from? Tangled? No, that's Rapunzel. But she is the one that is. Well, it close. It's the Scottish one. And so she has the red hair and she has the bow. We've not gotten our picture with her. She is in a spot that's right between tomorrow land and fantasy land and she has a little trail with a meet and greet. It's right before you go into tomorrow. Land near the castle. It's kind of one that you walk up. There's no fast passes for it. Um, so that's a spot that you can meet Merida. What movie is she? You don't even know. Wow. Yeah, it's one of the more popular ones. You got me stumped on that one. Um, no from brave and another Disney princess that we've met, not at this location, but is jasmine. You can meet her over by the flying carpets in adventure land and often she will have Aladdin with her. Um, one of the things that is kind of Nice I've seen at the party sometimes they'll have some other characters from the film as well. Um, so jasmine is over in adventure land as you move into some other parts of the park. We have met some of these princesses before. I'm over at the Princess Fairy Tale Hall, which is in Fantasyland. We've been here before and I think even on our most recent trip you have Cinderella, Elena, and then we have Tiana and Rapunzel.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

She is from the cartoon that they have. She's, I don't know the full name of her show. I'm going to say you stumped me on that for two. She has the red dress and she's over three, I don't know. Hispanic. Yeah. So we've gotten her picture with her though. Yeah, we've gotten our picture with her before. And she's at fairytale hall. So one side you meet her in Cinderella and the other side you meet Tiana and Rapunzel and we've met all of them before. So rapunzel from tangled. Okay. Yes. Thank you. So we have met them and Cinderella, we had the live action Cinderella movie we played. So we got pictures with all of that specifically for, for our movie. So that was a fun thing. So we have met them over at the fairy Princess Fairytale Hall. Another princess that we've met is Ariel. She's at Ariel's grotto and that's in that new fantasy land section. We've met her before. She's in her clamshell and she's in her mermaid, like as her mermaid state. We've gotten our pictures with her before and I have a cousin who really loves her a lot. Now he's gets her picture with her. That's wonderful. Yes. So, um, those are the different ones that you can meet in magic kingdom. Of course there are opportunities at some of the dining opportunities that you have, like at Cinderella's royal table, you can also meet beast at be our guest, so there are some opportunities to meet some other characters and some people would even claim tinkerbell kind of in that mode. I don't know if I'd consider a tinkerbell. She's not, but she is also at magic kingdom. You can meet her at the front with Mickey at town hall. Now she has a separate queue area, but you can meet her in town hall. Um, so that's the rounds out all of the characters at magic kingdom endure this oppression for you. You know, if you had limited time, what princess would you wait in line to have a photo with? I would say probably some of the ones that we're talking about at epcot that will be coming up just because they're a little bit more unusual that I haven't had my pictures with. Although as we mentioned, I don't think we've really gotten our picture ever with Merida. And then I've gotten jasmine maybe once a long time ago. So something different now. So because we did bring it up, I've caught, let's go ahead and start talking about the different opportunities that you have there. So when you're. Oh, one other spot that I did forget to mention at magic kingdom is there's the attraction that enchanted tales with Belle. We went and did that in March, last March when we were there and you walk through and there's the magic wardrobe and then the interactive story and my friend and I, we got our picture with Belle at the end and people in the audience get to interact. So that's kind of a fun way to interact with characters that a little bit different level. It's not so fast. I think it was two trips ago. I got all my photos with the princesses. Will you share some of those on our instagram page? Yeah, we can share some of those. Yeah. Unique one. Yeah. He, he doesn't like standing in line sometimes for the princess photos. So what's her instagram account again? Vanessa figmentfan814. Folks go to figmentfan814. See these photos? They are very unique in my expression of Disney. So we're gonna. We're gonna. Move away from that right now. We're going to go over to epcot and we're going to talk about in the world showcase you can meet a lot of the different processes. And when I was there in October with a friend, I got to meet one of the ones that I hadn't met. I don't know if ever I'm first. You Have Anna and Elsa in Norway. My favorite. Kris loves frozen. I don't know that we've met them here though. We've met them at Disney land. We met them at magic kingdom before they moved out to magic kingdom. I don't think that we've actually met them in Norway yet though, so we may have to add that to our next to do list. So you can meet. I'm Anna and Elsa in Norway. And then as you start moving through the world showcase, I'm one of the things that you can do. And we did this. We met bell in France. Do you remember meeting Belle? She was in her blue and white outfit, I believe I hit. Yep. So she had her cape, we actually met her at one of the, the Halloween parties, but she does appear in the France pavilion on a regular basis. And someone who I got this last trip in October was princess Aurora. Do you know what movies she's from? Tangled your default answer. Sleeping beauty. Oh yeah. Good ones. And the castle at Disneyland is sleeping beauty. That's Aurora's castle. Yeah, that's why it's pink. And that's the one where there's the three fairies and they change your dress colors and you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. Right. So you can meet Princess Aurora in France as well. And I just did that on my recent trip. Um, another one is you move through the world showcase is in China. You can meet Mulan in China in I think we've met Mulan, but it's probably been a decade since we've met her. So that may be something she's right at the entrance to the China Pavilion. The thing is make sure that you check the times guide at Epcot because it will list the times that the characters are there in often. You sometimes have to wait a half hour or more in this next one. We got our picture with Snow White near the Germany pavilion. Think when we were planning our vow renewal. Remember we met Snow White at the. I think they had over by the wishing well, and we had to wait a little bit of time for that. Um, so snow white is over in the Germany pavilion. Can you get a fast pass for photos? No, for, uh, for some of them, like the fairy tale Princess Hall that we talked about at magic kingdom you can, but all of these in Epcot you cannot, although, except for Anna and Elsa as far as I know you can get fast passes for them, but all the ones that are the world showcase, you cannot. Another one that we got probably I think maybe four or five years ago is jasmine. She does meet, um, gas in the Morocco pavilion. So that's a great place to be able to meet Jasmine. And really if you have a little princess in your family or an adult princess that likes to get their pictures with different princesses throughout the world, showcase, it really is a great opportunity if you time it right, get that times guide and go through the park can have a chance to meet a lot of them. Of course in Norway they do have the princess breakfast where you can meet all of them at once. I've not done that. I've had some friends who do that and really swear by it and say it's a great time. Um, but those are kind of the main areas that you can meet the princesses. And then of course there are different character meals throughout property where you're able to meet the princesses all the way from 1900 park fare too, as we mentioned, Norway. That's the one that is at the Grand Floridian on the first floor. It's the buffet we've eaten there for Brunch. We've eaten there for dinner. Um, so there is lots of opportunities to see the princesses even if you don't get to see them in one of these meet and greets that we mentioned. So as I was talking about when you are getting ready to head to the parks and you know, you have a lot of princesses on your agenda that you want to meet, it would be great for you to go decked out with one of the purses are one of the glitter magic bands from red. Yeah, most definitely. If you're going to stand in line, you get a photo with the princess. You have to look good. Exactly. So we're gonna tell you a little bit more about Kathlene and get her on the phone here in just a few minutes. We are looking forward to hear from our guest today. We have Kathlene from Kathlene's creations and she has a business that has a wide variety of different items. She started in November 2017 and went full time with their business in February 2018. She is a big Disney fan who had dreams of working at Disney and now she's just doing it in a little bit different way. Um, she was also married at Walt Disney world and so just like for Kris and I see it has a special place in her heart. She is a painter and does some really amazing Disney artwork. Um, so a lot of her business she started out doing painted custom shoes and vinylmations and then now she's been starting to do all kinds of, I think what I love the most is she has lots of really cool glitter product. She has magic bands and luggage tags and all kinds of cool stuff that will get to hear more about. But we would like to welcome Kathlene to the show. Thanks for having me. Thank you so much again for joining us. And we always like to start off each interview with an icebreaker. And our question today. What is your favorite Disney attraction? Any park anywhere in the world?

Speaker 3:

Well, before my last trip, that would be a very hard question for me to answer because I like a lot of Disney ride, but um, my last trip was in November and I have the chance to ride flights of passage and I just thought that ride was amazing.

Speaker 2:

Yes. Yes. And I know when we wrote it last March, I, it was way better than I was expecting it is. It blows your mind when you go on it, know it, doesn't it? Yes. So you definitely need a fast pass that that's for sure.

Speaker 3:

The key. Yes. That is very key.

Speaker 2:

So with that, please tell us more about your business and what you can do to help people better enjoy Disney.

Speaker 3:

Um, I have gone to Disney like eight, in my life. I think there's always something like Disney stars have a lot of products, but I feel like there's always something that could be more, you know, like the more personalized items that glitter items that Disney just doesn't sell at the moment. I'm just like trying to find things that are more unique to offer it to customers.

Speaker 2:

Sure. And what are some of the different products that maybe I missed in my introduction of you that you have on your site?

Speaker 3:

Um, yeah, I have a huge variety of items. Um, I have pins, tee shirts, a hand painted items like wallets, purses, the glitter, magic, magicbands, Apple Watch, cover top holders, um, and I'm always looking for new items to add to my shop as well.

Speaker 2:

And how often do you add some new things to your shop? Is it on a regular basis or as an inspiration comes or

Speaker 3:

kind of as the inspiration comes? I don't really have a set schedule right now. Ideally would want to move into that, but it's kind of whenever I get an idea like, oh, I'll try that.

Speaker 2:

Sure. And what are maybe some of your more recent products that you've recently put out there?

Speaker 3:

Um, I just release the pin design of Oswald and Ortensia for Valentine's Day and I'm always coming up with new colors of glitter. So I around Christmas time or release a green on the right. Before that there was a Magenta color. I'm just trying to open up all the options there.

Speaker 2:

Right. And now like if I wanted to with this for December 2019, is that something, if I wanted to get that green glitter, is that something that's still offered in your shot?

Speaker 3:

Yep, absolutely.

Speaker 2:

Awesome. Now what are some things, what led you to start your business?

Speaker 3:

It's kind of been a long process sort of back in 2012. I had a friend contact me about painting some hunger games shoes on. I've been a fan of painting my whole life. Um, so I decided to try it and that was sort of my foray into taking custom orders. Um, so then after that I did a couple more shoes and then went into the vital nation world where I don't know if you guys collect vinyl nations, but

Speaker 2:

I have some friends that do. Yes,

Speaker 3:

yes. There was a lot of people painting on. So I thought that would be pretty fun. I'm got to do that for a couple of years. And then more recently I just thought well it'd be kind of fun to get my art on a website and have people just be able to buy it at anytime. So that's why I decided to do.

Speaker 2:

And now you mentioned like your friend had asked about hunger games. Do you now exclusively do Disney items? I know like on your site it appears that way, but do you do custom orders

Speaker 3:

as well? I do. I love taking any custom. Mostly people ask for Disney, so that's kinda where I'm at. But I can do anything. One of my more recent things I have painted for somebody was she wanted a character from stargate. Okay. A vinylmation. And I did that. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And with your different products, like what is the turnaround? If I were to order something or like those custom products, how soon before I need those. Should I reach out to you?

Speaker 3:

For most of my items, unless it's a ready made thing, like a pin or a tee shirt. A two weeks is a good time.

Speaker 2:

Okay. Okay. And what are some of the ways that you think that your products offer Disney magic maybe to people's lifestyle home or for their trips? What are some of those special touches that you really feel that you've been able to make a difference for? For Disney fans?

Speaker 3:

Um, glitter has always been magical in my life. So I love adding glitter, magic, anything and a lot of people, thankfully I agree with that too. I've had a actually many people tell me after their trips that they had lots of comments and compliments on the magic downs and where did they get them off? Um, which was pretty cool. And then I like focusing on the more unique paints, like I have the color change, so changing and the sun are changing with heat where you can touch it and it changes. It's just brings the magic what the style of painting I think.

Speaker 2:

And now with your, how many different color glitter bans do you offer? I mean, I know you have glitter in it, a lot of your products. That's a really good question. Do you know or. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3:

That sounded count them.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's okay. What are just kind of the array of colors? Maybe mention a few of those.

Speaker 3:

Um, yeah. My main one's a rose gold is a big one or diamond silver. Gold. Um, any color of the rainbow? Like red, yellow, turquoise meant Magenta or green. Okay.

Speaker 2:

And do you have some of those are due or your colors kind of inspired by certain characters or do you just kind of do ones that you know, some of your customers look for?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I try to think of what the, like, what people could match to any of their Disney outfits. So I started with the rose gold that was, uh, that was when Disney came out with all of the roads go ears and stuff and I thought that was kind of fun. So then they did the millennial pink, which is another one. And then they came out the diamond color if I tried it. Yeah, I think about what they could match.

Speaker 2:

Oh good. So it really, if I had one of those ears than your band would be a perfect compliment to that is quite a match.

Speaker 3:

Some as close as I can.

Speaker 2:

Awesome, and are there, what are some, because you offer such a different variety of products, what are your, what's your favorite thing to make for clients?

Speaker 3:

The hand painted items. Like I said, I've been a fan of painting my whole life so when I can, you know, paint the character or a theme that's just so exciting to me was the most special I think.

Speaker 2:

Sure. What is your favorite painting that you Disney painting you've done?

Speaker 3:

Um, a couple months ago I painted a tangled rapunzel is my favorite princess and I just loved that movie and had somebody asked if I could paint Rapunzel and Flynn on a purse and it was so much fun. It was a larger size than I'm used to painting on those, a little bit of a challenge, but the outcome I just loved it had so much fun and she loved it as well, so that always makes me so happy.

Speaker 2:

Now. What are some of the items that you do some of those custom paintings on besides a painting that I could hang on my wall? What are some of the other items that you can do those custom images on?

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah. I love items that you can wear and kind of use in your day to day life. So primarily I've been focusing on purses and wallets, but I mean I can do it on shoes or on the magic bands or luggage tags. A really anything cardholders, anything that is leather or has something that you know, the pain can stick to. I would love it.

Speaker 2:

The paint now I have to ask because you were married at Walt Disney world. Did you do any custom painted items for your wedding? Um, or were you into it at that time?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I was a little bit busy but I painted, I hand painted some magic bands for our honeymoon trip.

Speaker 2:

Oh, nice. Nice. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And so what are, um, when you look at some of your different products, if I, let's say for instance, like I really like figment. I could reach out to you about different products and have you create something custom for me. Oh, absolutely. Yup. And is that timeline still about the two weeks or how like if I wanted to do custom shoes, obviously I'm thinking you need what kind of had.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it depends. I, it really depends on the complexity. Um, so two weeks as my most basic turnaround, but if it was a little bit more detailed, it would probably be two to four weeks. I'm, like I said, it just depends on the complexity, but I love painting anything so we're not limited by a character or anything like that. Sure.

Speaker 4:

You know. And so with that, if you could please just share with our listeners, your website, your social media pages, where can people more number one find out about you, but to see the art that you've created?

Speaker 3:

Oh sure. My website is www.kathlenescreations.com, k a t h l e n e c r e a t I o n s and then you can find me on instagram and facebook at Kathlene's creations as well.

Speaker 2:

Okay. And if I were interested in getting some of those items that you were talking about, if I have a customer request, do I do that through your website or do I need to reach out through social media? What's the best thing for you?

Speaker 3:

You can. Any way really you can send me a message on Instagram, send me a message through my website. I check all my communications regularly. So anyways, it's fine.

Speaker 2:

Awesome. In what we will make sure to do is in the show notes, we'll put all of those different links in there and share some of the photos from your different products so they equate our listeners know how to get themselves decked out for their next Disney trip or like you mentioned some of those everyday products as well, the wallets and purses, things that they can use throughout just their everyday lives also. So thank you. Thank you. Yeah, thank you so much for being on the show. We are really looking forward to sharing this with our listeners and letting them get to a chance to see some. The Disney magic you can create for them at home.

Speaker 3:

Thank you so much.

Speaker 2:

So we hope on your next trip that you can plan to get a really awesome glitter magic ban or a cool purse that is one of Kathlene's creations that you can take with you on your next trip to the park to visit with the princesses. And now we're onto a couple of our favorite parts of the show. First up, we have our trivia that Kris is going to see what he can do in terms of getting me stumped.

Speaker 4:

Well, Vanessa, today we're talking about Disney princesses, is how I'm going to read you some quotes and I want you to associate the quote with the character, the princess that said it in the movie. Okay? And the first one is, the only way to get what you want in this world is through hard work. Which princess said this piano. You are exactly correct. Yes, Tiana. I'm the next one is a wish. Excuse me. A dream is a wish. Your heart makes Cinderella. You knew that.

Speaker 2:

Yes. Did you see these before you wish your heart makes? I've had shirts and stuff and I find the next one. Now the Tiana, the reason I remember that is because like last week I just listened to the soundtrack from princess and the frog and so some of the dialogues in that. Otherwise I cheating. Okay.

Speaker 4:

So far you're two for two. Someday. My principal come from sleeping beauty. It's the sleeping bed princess. What did we just say earlier? Princess Aurora? Yes. Good for you. Incorrect. No, it's not. I'll give you one more guess. Wait, what was it again someday? My principal know that. Snow White. Okay. I'll give you your two and a half or three and she has a new dinner that I'd like to try out at. Wilderness Lodge. You can meet her and dopey and I think the evil queen. Wonderful. Last one. Okay. I know you. I walked with you once upon a dream. That's I think sleeping beauty to wait. Who's sleeping? Beauty. Aurora. You are right. You are. I'll give you the songs because I was thinking that they dance in that one. I'll give you credit for that. You are for, for, for in Disney. Princess quotes. This is one of your better weeks for Trivia. Congratulations finishing.

Speaker 2:

I do have a lot of those quotes on shirts and different things, so I will say that's probably where some of that comes from. Now onto, I think one of my favorite parts as well as our wisdom from Walt. We always like to end with a quote from Walt Disney and going along the lines of princesses and fantasy land and all those sorts of things. This is a quote that he had in regards to fantasy land at Disneyland. Here is the world of imagination, hopes and dreams in this timeless land of enchantment, the age of chivalry, magic and make believe are reborn and fairy tales come true. Fantasy land is dedicated to the young and heart to those who that when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true. What a powerful quote. Yes, what a great quote, and for those of you who have been to Disneyland and Walt Disney world and walked your fantasy land, that really encompasses all that that land is about. So thank you once again for joining us in this episode of the Dislove podcast with Vanessa and Kris. I'm Vanessa and I'm Kris Johns. Have a great night.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.
